ReplyDeleteI think my favorite Halloween costume as a child was dressing up in a Kimono. My Dad was in Japan and sent me a complete outfit and I was so excited to wear it.
ReplyDeleteI remember ripping apart a sheet one year and my mother wrapping me head to toe like a mummy.I stood at the door and gave out candy. Thanks for hosting.I put your Deck the Halls Halloween logo up on my blog.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume was a cat costume my mom made me when I was little! Everything looks great.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume was the year I dressed up as an old woman; wig, granny dress, shawl, head scarf, and hiking boots. I'm not sure why I thought the hiking boots were a good idea, but I did.
ReplyDeleteMy mom made my costumes as a kid, and I won a contest as a scarecrow, but really liked the nun outfit she made too! Thanks for the open house!
ReplyDeleteTammy,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume was when I was in high school, I went to a party at a friend's house, dressed as my Dad.
He was a carpenter and I dressed in his green dickey work pants, a carpenter's hat, a cigar in my mouth, and a carpenter's apron filled with his tools.
I did it to honor my Dad as he was and still is my hero and lives in my heart forever.
This is a post I did in Feb. dedicated to him:

my fave was a spanish dancing costume - i made the full skirt with multiple flounces and top with gathered neckline and sleeves - lots of work, but the result was worth the effort! lots of FuN ! thx for the reminder :))
ReplyDeleteTammy, Love the Halloween Open House! I have two favorite Halloween Costumes. When I was about 9, Mom made me a Queen of Hearts costume. It was two giant stuffed red cloth hearts, like a sandwich board. I had a red heart crown and all! My second favorite was the year I wore blue dress (a bride's maids dress from a girlfriend's wedding a few months prior) put on a string of pearls and a pair of devil ears and went as the Devil with the Blue Dress On ;) Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteAs a kid my favorite costume was the clown one my mom made me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume was a Princess, I think I was one every year! Thanks for the open house!

I have very few costume memories from when I was a kid because when I was 8 they outlawed Halloween in my hometown due to some people in larger cities putting bad things in kid's candy. But as an adult I loved being a scarecrow. The hay was itchy, but it was a cute costume.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness.... My favorite costume was one my daughter wore when she was 5. It was a pepperoni pizza! I made it and it was kinda "Cheesy" but, she did win a trophy for it!
ReplyDeleteHave a boo-tiful weekend!
Leticia
GUESS I HAVE TO SAY MY CAT COSTUME FROM WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL...LOVE YOUR OPEN HOUSE, EVERYTHING IS REALLY COOL.........GOOD LUCK WITH IT ALL..HAPPY HALLOWEEN
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Halloween costume was that of a cat. It was purchased for me at Woolworths, way back in the day. You know, the type that was packed in a see thru box, with just a mask for the front of your face, and the cloth type neck to feet body. Those were the days!

I could have sworn I left a comment already. My favorite costume was when my oldest son was 5, and he was a dinosaur. He kept going in circles trying to look at his tail. Adorable. He's 26 now...your Halloween shop is amazing.

I am so happy to have found your blog. I need to really explore it sometime, but your halloween shop is wonderful. I probably dressed up as a gypsy more times than anything else. I just loved to wear scarves, big skirts, and beaded necklaces so much as a kid. I am hosting a giveaway over at my blog too. Come say Hi. I would love to be entered into your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteooo, i'm not sure what my favorite costume was, I remember dressing up as a southern belle in a big twirly dress once and loved it!
ReplyDeleteLast year I went to a Halloween Party dressed as Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd complete with roaches and meat pies. I really enjoyed dressing up like that. I'm a huge Halloween freak....so super glad to find your blog.
ReplyDeleteHalloween isn't very big over here in Australia and so I have never actually been trick or treating. I have taken my kids though and they love it!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and Happy Sunday,
Natasha.
Love all your decor! they are amazing pieces - I want to take some time and look through them all. Thanks for hosting Deck the Halls each week - I relaly enjoy it. Paula in Idaho
ReplyDeleteIhave such a bad memory, I know we went trick or treating every year, but I can barely remember our costumes! But I do remember being a gypsy one year. dressed in my one of my mothers silky nightgowns and a satiny salmon colored bed jacket with a scarf tied on my head and big earings and LOTS of makeup! I'm surprised I dont remember more since I love halloween so much! anyways.. would love to win your giveaway!
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful day

oh! what an awesome giveaway! one of my favorite halloween costumes growing up was wonder woman! my mom did a great job! it looked like the real thing! i was just talking about how i miss the homemade costumes we grew up with! now everyone orders and pays way too much! thanks for the chance! xo
ReplyDeleteLove all the Halloween decos Tammy, I'm inspired to get mine out, after Canadian Thanksgiving tomorrow. LOL.. I'm too old to remember what my costumes were now! How sad is that?? The only one I can remember is being a ghost..how unimaginative!! Unlike my husband, who last year, in honour of us temporarily living in Kansas, thought it would be funny to dress up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz... the folks on our street are still laughing and shaking their heads!
ReplyDeleteOh sweet friend...my favourite costume ever was when I made the cutest ladybug costume for one of my daughters...she was adorable. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
My favorite costume was when I dressed up like a clown; I was probably 7. I was at my friends house and taking pics in front of the kitchen sink...needless to say, my wig fell off and into the dishwater!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I didn't enjoy getting dressed up for Halloween as a child. Very young I always went as a gypsy. Probably because it was an easy costume for my Mom to pull together without spending any money. I remember my Mom went to put lipstick on me and I didn't want it. As an adult I went all out...one company I worked for always had an Halloween party at work and we all dressed up. We had a great time and everyone was in costume.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume was when I was around 9 and went as a box of chocolates with real candy inside the box!

My fav Halloween costume??? Well I don't really remember having a favorite BUTTTT my mother is an artist so she was always creating me into something, a gypsy or hobo etc. I guess I wasn't thrilled about it then because I wanted one of those cheap tacky plastic costumes that all of my friends had!!! Now looking back- I can simply say-That's what it's all about! I wish my children would let me dress them up but nooo they wan't the cheap costumes.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading everyone's post about their costumes and I hope you all have a Happy Halloween!!!
Thanks, Heather H
When I was older I dressed my boyfriend at the time as a women and me as man. We won first prize...he had nice legs!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by my blog and letting me in on your fabulous giveaway!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite halloween costume was a raggedy andy costume my mom made when I was 7. We used my life-size R.A. doll's clothes as my costume and then she weaved tons of red yarn through a stocking cap to give me my shaggy head of hair. It was so cute... Too bad I didn't realize it at the time. I wanted to be Barbie.:)
Blessings,
Melanie
my fav halloween costume was sort of an oriental geisha girl, all of which came from the local thrift (see I've been thrifting for waaaay too long) & the theme for the party was "the outlet party" (which was the name of the store) & everyone created their costume from that store - a great party that I still remember just like yesterday! Thanks for the blog party!
ReplyDeleteJust came across your blog today and what fun a giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember being anything else but a witch for Halloween. Dressing up is so much fun.
