Our old house was very small and with 3 little ones I decided to put my tree up to discourage little fingers and for my own sanity... This worked out great! My tree is actually a 6 1/2 feet. I removed the bottom portion of the tree and placed a wedge into the stand to make it fit tight. I am not a huge fan of traditional tree skirts so I used a very inexpensive snow blanket tucked around the bottom. Instead of gifts under the tree this also allowed me to tuck some of my favorite decorations under and around. I really liked how it turned out, I may do this again.
Here is Christmas morning and Santa was able to drop everything right there and the stockings were hung from the cabinet.
One of my favorite Santa's by Penny McAllister for Seasons of Cannon Falls. The kids LOVE him! If you like him too, he is available here.
This was one of my favorite things last year.
It is 2 mercury glass compotes, and a large candle ring. The ring wasn't quite big enough to fit around the bottom of the top piece so I simply cut it. I hesitated to do it but thought why not, it can always be wired back together. I then sprinkled everything with fake snow and scattered the ornaments.
My feather tree decorated for Christmas. The picture did not do it justice!
A simple kissing ball tucked into a very plain chandelier. When the lights were on it just sparkled!
My favorite rabbit that I just couldn't put away. All he needed was a little bit of Christmas.
I had very skinny shelves next to my front door and always had trouble decorating them. Last year I kept everything silver and green and created scenes on each shelf with the same snowflake on each to bring them all together.
You can see all of the shelves in the Christmas morning pic.
I hung a small wreath with a bell at the end of each curtain rod.
A favorite Teena Flanner santa standing in a milk glass compote filled with snow and bottlebrush trees.
I hope you found a little inspiration. Have you started decorating yet? I am getting a game plan together. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED!!!

Tammy, I love the idea of putting the tree up and out of reach. You gave me some great ideas. Maybe I will start pulling my boxes down today.
